2002 Railroad Photography

Former US Army ALCO S-2 locomotive number 7100 debuted to photographers on April 6, 2002, with restored paint after a three-year rebuild. Pulling a freight train consisting of a high-side scrap metal gondola, a KCS bulkhead flatcar, and a Southern caboose, 7100 performed a number of runbys along the route of the Secret City Scenic Excursion Train.

On April 7, 2002, the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum operated a charter freight train for photographers over the former Kentucky & Tennessee Railroad in Stearns, Kentucky. The line is now operated by the Big South Fork Scenic Railway (call 1-800-GO-ALONG for information). The train used K&T S-2 number 102, four gondolas, and the K&T caboose.
